As leaders of nearly two hundred nations will gather in Paris from 30 November to 11 December to address the climate crisis and to arrive at a consensus in safeguarding the Earth, the global centre of excellence in curriculum and related matters, the IBE-UNESCO, pledges to support efforts to mainstream the sustainability of development in national curricula at all levels of education and training systems.
Drawing on its 90 years of experience and knowledge, The IBE-UNESCO pledges to provide technical support to countries that seek to address climate change and other issues pertaining to the sustainability of development through their curricula. This support will include the articulation and operationalization of a ‘paradigm shift in curriculum’ in line with the multiple dimensions of sustainability, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and especially SDG4.
A holistic approach to sustainability in curricula is one of the key preventive measures that could enhance the safeguarding of the planet that has been bestowed on us and that we have to pass on to the future generations.
