UNESCO is taking part in the triennial Congress of the World Council of Comparative Education Societies (WCEES) being organized in Buenos Aires (24-28 June 2013) under the theme “New Times, New Voices: Comparative Perspectives for Education”.
Panel 2 is chaired by UNESCO’s International Bureau of Education and analyzes Paulo Freire’s literacy training experience. The panel will explore the influence that his work has had on the relationship between democracy, citizenship, education, and social transformation today.
Panel 3 is devoted to revisiting the 1996 Delors Report and is being organized jointly by the UNESCO Chair of Comparative Education at the University of Hong Kong and UNESCO Education Research and Foresight. The panel will revisit the Delors Report and make recommendations on the significance of the four pillars of education in a changing world. The summary outcomes will provide a direction for future research and programme work in this field.
