Delegation of UNESCO Chair from Russia and heads of schools visit the IBE for exchange on quality education based on international experiences



Representatives of the UNESCO Chair from Russia, of the Moscow ASP net schools and the Moscow Institute of Open Education, including heads of schools visited the IBE to discuss the activities of the IBE and UNESCO's programmes aimed at improving the quality of education. The Russian delegation works with schools on cross-cultural education including multilingualism, ethno- and multicultural education, pedagogy, cross-confessional relations, and adaptation of migrants' children. IBE Director, Dr Mmantsetsa Marope, gave a warm welcome to the Russian delegation. On Monday, the two institutions met to know more about the IBE as well as detailed information about specific programme activities of the IBE, while the UNESCO Chair gave a presentation on international cooperation in the field of education and the implementation of courses for school administration and teaching staff of Moscow educational institutions. Through the exchanges the two institutions hope to leverage their expertise and experience to further advance the development of quality education grounded in international experiences. On Tuesday, the Russian delegation met with representatives of the DIP Headquarters (Public Instruction Department of Geneva), and visited primary and secondary public schools. The two-day visit was intended help the heads of schools to understand the education system of Switzerland as a whole and in particular to see how a typical Swiss school functions as well as how the curriculum is effectively implemented with a focus on learning processes.
